National Day of China is celebrated on October 1st every year. 2010 China National day will be the 61 anniversary [??ni?v?:s?ri](周年紀念日) for the founding of the People's Republic of China.

October 1st 1949 is the founding celebration day of the People's Republic of China. A huge ceremony [?serim?ni]（典禮） was held in Tiananmen Square Beijing on that day. There were over 600,000 people participated in（參加） the event and chairman Mao, made the announcement [??na?nsm?nt](宣告) to the world on the Tiananmen rostrum that the founding成立 of the People's Republic of China.

A grand [ɡr?nd]重大的 celebration including military parade閱兵 and mass procession will usually be held on the National Day of certain years, such as year of 1999 and 2009.

The National day is a public holiday in China. During the holiday, Beijing, the capital of China, is often decorated裝飾 in a festive theme especially in Tiananmen Square. Also a variety of organized festivities including fireworks, parade, performances and concerts音樂會 will be held at open squares, parks, theatres and other venues.
