定義： 俗稱臺風，發生在熱帶海洋上的一種具有暖心結構的逆時針強烈旋轉的渦旋。


等級(由低到高)：縮寫和全稱


TC  熱帶氣旋tropical cyclone


TD  熱帶低壓tropical depression


TS  熱帶風暴tropical storm


STS 強熱帶風暴severe tropical storm

PS不同海區熱帶氣旋的不同名稱——
①發生在西北太平洋和南海海域的稱之為臺風typhoon
②發生在北大西洋、加勒比海、墨西哥灣、東北太平洋東部和東經160度以東的南太平洋等海域的稱之為颶風hurricane
③發生在北印度洋、孟加拉灣、阿拉伯海等海域的稱之為氣旋風暴cyclonic storm
④發生在東經160度以西的南太平洋和東經90度以東的東南印度洋等海域的則稱之為強熱帶氣旋severe tropical cyclone
